DSD Route Sales Representative

We’re a wholesale distribution company servicing the Pacific Northwest for the past 30 years. Our customers include convenience stores, truck stops, grocery stores, hardware stores, etc. As a distributor we carry a diverse inventory covering multiple categories such as work gloves, sunglasses, cell phone accessories, batteries, seasonal displays, toys, PPE and much more. We’ve experienced consistent growth over the past several years and feel it’s a good time to add another route.
There is an opening for a Route Sales Representative to join our team within the greater Lewiston/Clarkston and surrounding area. To be competitive for this role…driving sales and developing strong customer relationships MUST be your passion. Much of your day will entail direct interaction with each of your accounts…selling, merchandising, cold calling and darkening the door. Your success will depend upon your ability to manage your day, develop strong relationships with each account buyer and store employees. Our support staff is world class and will provide the support you need to drive sales. We do not have openings very often, and we’re looking for someone that wants to build a new route and have fun doing it. Brief Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and gross profit within assigned account territory

  • Responsible for promoting new growth and distribution within account

  • Effectively manage route planning and cold calling to ensure sales attainment against quota

  • Execute company promotions and display opportunities

  • Deliver product to customers and maintain accurate inventory and delivery records

  • Provide merchandising, stocking, pricing, shelf facing, stock rotating, and cleaning of product and displays

  • Responsible for sales reporting and communicating with sales manager

  • Effectively use company handheld sales device(s) and follow all customer store procedures

  • Perform other duties and/or assignments as directed

  • Develop and maintain strong rapport with accounts and key decision makers at store level

  • Maintain a safe work environment in the stores

  • Sell products as appropriate

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understand difference between Selling, Building Relationships and Customer Service

  • Know the difference between Placing and Turns

  • Ability to determine the viability of an account

  • Be able to increase distribution of product lines in new and existing accounts

  • Ability to follow written instructions

  • Read & write English

  • Possess basic math skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Valid driver’s license from the state of residence

  • High school diploma with post high school studies preferred

  • Microsoft Office skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, effectively plan and make good business decisions in the absence of direct supervision

  • Must possess and maintain a clean driving record. Your MVR will be reviewed prior to offer of employment

Competitive Considerations:

  • DSD experience strongly recommended

  • Sales and retail work experience preferred

  • Sales and/or Customer service experience

  • Experience Merchandising

  • Great people skills and passion for "making it happen" can really be a plus!

Physical Requirements:
This can be a physical job requiring occasional lifting/carrying of 20-50 pounds


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Will take form of salary + commission to start, transitioning to 100% commission + bonus.

  • Our sales representatives do very well with top reps earning well over six figures.

  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, sick and vacation time.

  • All final candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check and MVR driver abstract.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $40,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
